Keynote Summary
We have a lot to say about marketing on the web or best practices to Internet marketing, especially when it comes to times like this (or maybe we’ve passed it in Malaysia) - Turbulent, unstable periods where everybody wants to hibernate, consolidate and minimize costs. Sure, marketing is expensive and it takes time; depending on the path an entity is willing to follow. It can be as cheap and effective; or expensive and ineffective. You choose.
The web has provided us with solid, extremely useful and powerful tools - And all of it boils down to our knowledge, understanding and best ways to leverage internal resources by tapping on external ones. All it takes is just some common sense, time to read and a lot of listening (through various mediums). But what is the main problem to minimal or nonstrategic usage of these Godlike resources?
“Donkey understanding” or “Absolute ignorance”. Elioe.com has spoke forth to a vast amount of corporations, ranging from large corporations to small businesses covering pioneers in advertising, both web and off-the-line marketing, manufacturers, service industries, publications, FMCG distributor/retailers and investors from countries across Asia Pacific, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia - They are just not getting the message. So why are they not getting it?
At Barcamp Penang, held in Inti College Bukit Jambul, Penang, Elioe.com plans to reach out to both geeks and laymen from different industries to help them understand what web marketing is all about. Nobody is too stupid, irrelevant or crippled to do it: It all takes a bit of patience, loads of energy and heart, tons and tons of hypothesis through constantly on-going experimentation and some common sense. It’s like learning how to play a new sport - It takes time and practice, but the outcome is worth your time.
Elioe.com is all about results - And when it comes to results, proven theories are compulsory. We’ve compiled hundreds of mini experiments through different sites, recording down each and every step, process and results generated. Hypothesises are then born and put to the test. Once it’s proven, these processes are then evaluated based on factors affecting the results such as differential industries, audience, needs/wants, requirements, disciplines, economy, statistics, demographics, cultures and so forth.
And these will be brought forth to you in Barcamp Penang on the 6th and 7th of June, 2009 in Inti College Bukit Jambul, Penang. We’re not only introducing long forgotten aspects of marketing, but integrating them with today’s technology, concepts, situations, environment and understand to bring forth a possible new generation of the Web - Semantic Web.
